The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau is pleased to announce that this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Alexandria Goodyear.
She is the daughter of Jeff and Katelyn Goodyear and a graduate of Hinsdale Central School.
Goodyear, the 2024 valedictorian, was nominated by her school counselor, who described her as an overall great student and member of the community. She has an amazing personality and is very driven and hard-working.
This fall, Goodyear will be attending Jamestown Community College, majoring in nursing, in anticipation of becoming a nurse practitioner.
Goodyear has earned many hours of community service, volunteering at the local food pantry, with her youth group and assisting younger kids in the neighborhood with various projects, including food and toy drives and Christmas caroling.
In school, Goodyear is a member of many extracurricular activities, such as National Honor Society, inducted her junior year; Student Council for two years; Code of Conduct Committee for one year; softball for 10 years, catcher and shortstop; varsity volleyball for four years; and archery for two years.
Goodyear has received many academic achievements throughout her school career, including being on the high honor roll since the fifth grade and ranking first in her class her senior year.
In her free time, Goodyear enjoys teaching swimming lessons to children ages 3 to 12. She also likes to read and has a passion for neurology.
Her dedication to school and her community has built a strong platform for her future goal.
Nominations for the 2024 graduating class are now closed. If you know an outstanding member of the community who is graduating in 2025, you can nominate them for a Cattaraugus County Youth Citizenship Award beginning in September.
