Area communities are preparing to observe Memorial Day, with ceremonies planned for Monday throughout the county.
In Salamanca, the annual parade will line up at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of nursing home. From there, a processional will make its way down Broad Street at 10 a.m. with American Legion, VFW, city and Seneca Nation officials.
The parade will end outside Veterans Memorial Park at the war vets memorial, where ceremonies will be held.
Also in Salamanca, the Seneca Nation of Indians will be hosting a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday at the Seneca Allegany Administration Building, 90 Ohi:yo’ Way. A luncheon will follow ceremonies.

CATTARAUGUS
A Memorial Day parade will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday down South Street, with the lineup scheduled to take place at noon.
A ceremony is scheduled to follow at Liberty Park Cemetery.
ELLICOTTVILLE
The honor guard and other civic organizations will parade down Washington Street beginning at 10:45 a.m. Monday.
Immediately following, there will be a ceremony in front of the town and village hall at the corner of Washington and Jefferson streets. Mayor John Burrell is expected to speak, the honor guard will fire a 21-gun salute and the Ellicottville Central School band will perform patriotic music.
GOWANDA
The Legion will also host a free breakfast for veterans from 7 to 9 a.m., which is also when the lineup will take place for the 20th annual Ride to Remember.
A rider meeting will be held at 9 a.m. along with a moment of remembrance. Kickstands up at 9:15 a.m.; the ride starts at the Gowanda American Legion Post and will travel through Collins to Springville and up Route 240 to Sprague Brook Park in Glenwood, where a ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.
LITTLE VALLEY
The Village of Little Valley will hold its annual Memorial Day Celebration starting with a parade put on by the Little Valley Fire Department, American Legion, VFW and the Cattaraugus-Little Valley High School Band.
The parade will begin at the Little Valley Fire Hall, go down Rock City Street, turn on Main Street and then on to Court Street. It will stop at the Civil War Monument on the corner of Court and Seventh streets. Here a wreath will be hung to honor the members of Cattaraugus County’s 154th Regiment who served in the Civil War. The Memorial was dedicated by the Descendants of the 154th Regiment in 1914.
The parade will continue to the Little Valley Cemetery where the Memorial Day Ceremony will be held to honor Little Valley’s veterans.
RANDOLPH
Randolph will hold its Memorial Day parade and ceremonies in East Randolph on Monday. Lineup for the parade begins at 9 a.m. at the former Moose Lodge, in East Randolph, from where the parade will begin at 10 a.m. Ceremonies will be held afterward at the East Randolph Cemetery.
SPRINGVILLE
Springville’s annual Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 28. The parade will form on South Buffalo Street by the log cabin and Veteran’s Park at 9:45 a.m. and will proceed north on Buffalo Street at 10 a.m. to Main Street and turn on West Main Street to Maplewood Cemetery.
