SALAMANCA — A co-ed cornhole tournament will be held Saturday, May 13, at 4 p.m. at Jefferson Street Park benefitting the Salamanca Seneca Falling Leaves Festival.
“It’s Mother’s Day weekend, so guys, it’s a cheap date for your Mother’s Day date,” said Michael “Smitty” Smith, tournament organizer.
At $10 per person for two-person teams, the tournament will be double elimination with a 64 team maximum.
“If we can get 64 teams at $10 a player, that’s $1,280 for the Falling Leaves Festival,” Smith said. “I’m up to 30 teams right now.”
Enjoy food, vendors and take part in a 50/50 raffle. Food will come from the Salamanca Youth Center and Cattaraugus Community Action’s Food for Thought program.
Free music will be provided by Salamanca’s own Kaleidoscope Sky, playing from 5 to 8 p.m.
The first place prize will be donated by Salamanca area merchants.
“It could be a great thing,” Smith said. “It should be a whole lot of fun, and if we can raise $1,500 for the Falling Leaves Festival, that would be a great thing, too.”
