CATTARAUGUS — Randolph won the Section 6 Class D Tournament team title and had three champions Saturday at Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central High School.
The Cardinals scored 216.5 points, beating out runner-up Gowanda (173.5) and Maple Grove (170.5). Randolph’s Marcus Evans won the 106-pound title, beating Franklinville’s Nolan Palmatier by technical fall. Marshall Johnson pinned Portville’s Alexx Quattrone for the 195-pound championship. In an all-Randolph heavyweight (285-pound) final, Nick Becker pinned Noah Person in 1:51.
Randolph had 11 top-four finishers, who will automatically advance to the Section 6 Div. II state
qualifier Saturday at the Seneca Allegany Community Center in Salamanca.
Person and Matt Evans (126) placed second; Kenny Johnson (106) and Cody Wright (170) were third and Wyatt Sluga (120), Mark Lindquist (132), Josh Anderson (152) and Dylan Williams (160) each placed fourth.
Fifth-place Franklinville saw Dooley Brennan grab the 160-pound championship with a 7-2 decision over Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Dakota Crawford. Other top finishers for Franklinville were Nolan Palmatier (second, 106), Kaylum Goodell (second, 132), Jake Peters (second, 138), Derek Langdon (second, 170), Jeff Hebdon (third, 126) and Caleb Palmatier (third, 138).
Cattaraugus-Little Valley placed sixth in the team scoring but had two individual winners in Sam Grey (132) and Tyler Penrod (145). Grey decisioned Goodell, 2-0, in the finals, while Penrod pinned Southwestern’s Cy Herb in 51 seconds.
C-LV’s Austin Genberg (182) and Vince Pascarella (220) placed third, and Mike Grey (126) was fourth.
Salamanca was led by Mark Coban’s third-place finish at 285 pounds. Coban lost only to Class D champion Becker and pinned Southwestern’s Carter Volk in the third-place match.
