BOSTON (AP) — Hundreds of mourners have gathered in Boston to
remember a Pace University football player who was shot by
police.
Childhood photos of Danroy “D.J.” Henry of Easton flashed on a
screen as friends, family and Pace students filled about 1,700
seats in a ballroom at the Boston Convention & Exhibition
Center.
Police have said Henry was shot outside a Thornwood, N.Y., bar
Oct. 17 after he drove off and hit two officers. But witnesses have
said Henry was trying to move from a fire lane as police responded
to a disturbance and wasn’t a threat.
Earlier Friday, a lawyer for Henry’s family said a ballistics
expert he hired had determined a police officer was not in harm’s
way when he fired the first shot.
