Henry’s Pressing Issue
People need to stop fat shaming my pug
Pickles has always been a big boy. From early in his time in the litter, he grew faster than the rest, quickly becoming something bigger and more powerful than anyone could have imagined.
At roughly 25 pounds, he’s a behemoth by pug standards. He eats what he’s supposed to, I take him on walks where he kind of pulls me across the ice. But he’s a big boy. It’s just how he’s built. It’s sort of like a Shaq situation.
This Christmas, my family tried to get him an extra small vest that fit a common cat, a thoughtful present, but also a clear taunt. Even his younger sister, a mere 15 pounder, might not fit in it. And then my family used this incident as a weapon — making jokes about his apparently slightly rotund state.
For anyone who has anything to say about him now, just be careful. He might be 25 pounds, but he’s growing by the minute. It’s only a matter of time before he’s a threat to us all.
