SALAMANCA — Mrs. Rae L. Eddy, 88, of Salamanca, died Monday morning (Nov. 3, 2025) at the Salamanca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

Born Dec. 1, 1936, in Red House, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Gladys Titus John. She was married Feb. 3, 1959, in Salamanca, to Mr. James R. Eddy, who predeceased her in 1980.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and of the Heron Clan.

Mrs. Eddy attended Salamanca High School and BOCES adult education.

She had been employed as a seamstress for Seneca Gaming and Entertainment for over four years. Prior to that, she had also been employed with the Salamanca Public Library and the Seneca Nation Library.

Mrs. Eddy enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the outdoors and playing Bingo.

Surviving are a daughter, Robin (Rodney) Jackson of Salamanca; two sons, Jody Eddy or Jimersontown and Jay Eddy of Salamanca; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Holly Jimerson and Lois Lichy, both of Salamanca, and Vicky Lichy of Ohio; two brothers, Dan Jimerson of Salamanca and Louis Jimerson Jr. of Steamburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Eddy Porter; three sisters, Marlene Kettle, Shirley Wheaton and Rosemary Zolner; and a brother, Melvin John.

Friends may call 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 6, 2025) at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Nov. 7, 2025) in the funeral home, with Deacon Michael Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown.
