Alexis Palmeri

The Salamanca girls soccer team scored its first three goals of the season Wednesday, Sept. 5, but it needed some strong defense to hold off Cassadaga Valley for the Warriors’ first victory of the season. Goalie Alexis Palmeri played all 100 minutes of a 3-2 Salamanca overtime win, making six saves. Palmeri preserved the Warriors’ chance at a win with a difficult stop on Cassadaga’s Sarah Meder in the second overtime period. “She just made an incredible save,” coach Michelle Hill said. “That win was just as much her and our defense as the girls who put the ball in the net.”
