After a season of awards including the Big 30 lineman of the year and Trench Trophy finalist and Hall of Fame entrant, Randolph’s Andrew Bernard earned first-team all-state honors on Tuesday.

Bernard, a four-year starter who recently announced his intention to play at Mercyhurst University next fall, made the first-team offensive line in Class C, as voted on and announced by the New York State Sports Writers Association on Tuesday. Randolph/Frewsburg ran behind Bernard’s side of the line 80 percent of the time this season. He also had 56 tackles (33 assist), six sacks and a fumble recovery at defensive tackle.

In Class D, Salamanca had two honorable mentions on the all-state team

Senior Ira John earned honorable mention at running back after running for 501 yards and five touchdowns and marking 164 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.

His classmate Tyler Hedlund was an honorable mention at defensive back. The Warriors’ safety recorded 97 tackles, three interceptions, a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery on the season.
