The Ellicottville boys and girls soccer teams had two individuals each who earned Big 30 All-Star recognition, as the Olean Times Herald announced its postseason soccer honors on Saturday.
The Ellicottville boys, who went 8-5-1, were represented by seniors Bryce Butler and Noah Steinbroner, making up two of the 15 all-star spots comprising players from the New York and Pennsylvania sides of the Big 30 area. Meanwhile, the Ellicottville girls (14-1) had two of the 15 all-star spots: junior Mandy Hurlburt and senior Logan Fredrickson.
Playing midfield, Butler scored a league-leading 12 goals with nine assists on his way to winning the CCAA Div. 3 East Player of the Year award. He was also a two-time first-team league all-star. Butler also plays club soccer for the WNY Flash Academy and has played in the NY/PA Corporate Cup.
Steinbroner, the anchor of the Eagles’ defense for years, was a repeat winner of the CCAA East Defensive MVP award. He’s started on defense since the eighth grade.
Hurlburt, a junior forward, led all of Section 6 Class C this season in points as she scored 19 goals with 10 assists in just 15 games. She is a two-time CCAA East first-team all-star and previously made the second team as a freshman. Hurlburt was also nominated for the Big 30 Player of the Year award along with three others: Bradford’s Maddi Cowburn, Fillmore’s Sophia Templeton and winner Alexis Gibbons of Olean.
Fredrickson scored six goals with eight assists, second on the team in points this fall. She made her third consecutive league first-team all-star honor.
