CATTARAUGUS — The Cattaraugus Free Library will be hosting a holiday open house on Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 5-7 p.m. The community is invited to celebrate the holidays and the outstanding year the library has had.

The famous hand-carved Statue of Liberty is currently on display at the library for the public to view. Light refreshments will be provided along with holiday music by Cliff and Kathleen Benson.

The last knitting club meeting of the year has wrapped up at the Cattaraugus Free Library. The participants crocheted and knitted many beautiful items including lap blankets, hats and scarves. All of the items were donated to the Trading Post South Outreach Program.

The club will regroup in April as the “Yarn and Thread Club.” All levels of expertise in crocheting, knitting and embroidery are invited to attend. The tentative start-up date will be on Tuesday, April 14 at 1 p.m., weather permitting.

Pre-school Story Time will resume on Friday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. Children can listen to a story, play games and color before selecting a few books to take home.

The library will be hosting a Christmas ornament and book give-away party on Friday, Dec. 13 from 4-6 pm. Children will be able to create their own snowflake ornament and select a new book to keep. There is no cost to attend. This fun family event coincides with the “Santa in the Park” event sponsored by the Historic Cattaraugus Corporation.

The library is open Monday through Saturdays with public computers and free hi-speed Wifi.
