CATTARAUGUS — This year’s Cattaraugus Community Weekend will kick off with a parade at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.
The route will be from the Firemen’s Club up South Street and ending at the corner of Washington and South streets, where a corn roast and talent show will be held starting at 7 p.m. Weather permitting, there will be an outdoor movie at Roberts Memorial Free Methodist Church at about 8:30.
Saturday’s events start at the Firemen’s Park at 9 a.m. with a BBQ Ribapaloosa cook-off and breakfast at the Victory Tabernacle. Pie contest drop-offs will be at 10 at the Firemen’s Park.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the Lawn Mower poker run, starting at the park. Also from 11 to 2, balloons by Buffalo Party Characters will be at Victory Tabernacle.
Other activities throughout the day include free hayrides, water bounce houses, a petting zoo, carnival food and vendors at Victory Tabernacle and Firemen’s Park.
A basket raffle at Saving Grace and a quilt raffle by the Firemen’s Auxiliary will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 1 to 4 p.m., a car cruise will be held at Roberts Memorial Church.
The pie judging will be held at the Firemen’s Park at 2 p.m. A Euchre Tournament and a puppet show at Victory Tabernacle will also be held at that time.
From 2 to 4 p.m., water battles will be held at the park and the Cattaraugus Historical Society will be hosting an Ice Cream Social. At 2:30, J.K.A. will be at Victory Tabernacle, followed by a prize giveaway and the Jest Kidding Magic Show at 4.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the BBP Ribapaloosa tasting will be at the park followed by judging. A cornhole tournament will be held at 5 and the band Black Widow will take the stage at 6 with fireworks at 9:30, all at the park.
The final day of Cattaraugus Community weekend will start Sunday with a presentation of Goliath’s Spear at Victory Tabernacle at 10:45 a.m.
At noon, the community picnic will be held there where bounce houses and hayrides will be a feature for the kids. A concert will conclude the weekend at 2 p.m., also at Victory Tabernacle.
