COLLINS - The New York State Police are conducting an investigation on an incident that took place Friday morning in Perrysburg. According to the initial report made by the State Police, three Salamanca men were taken into custody following a tip that a suspicious vehicle occupied by three men was on the grounds of the old JN Adam Hospital.
Bryan McKenyon, 44; Richard Farnham Jr., 29; and Christopher Vassar, 21, all of Salamanca were arrested following the incident. The tip was called into the State police about the vehicle being there at approximately 9 a.m. When troopers went to investigate, they found the doors of the hospital open and they searched the building. Once inside, troopers found the three men. Farnham and Vassar fled but McKenyon was taken into custody immediately.
Approximately an hour later, reports of two suspicious men walking roughly a mile away from the hospital came in to the state police and patrols responded, resulting in the arrest of Farnham and Vassar.
It is now believed that the suspects were at the hospital grounds hoping to steal copper and scrap metal from the premises.
All three suspects were taken to the State Police station in Collins, and charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal trespass .
After arraignment in the Town of Perrysburg Court, the suspects were sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of ,5000 cash bail.
The investigating officer was not available for comment earlier today.
