ELLICOTTVILLE – The village’s oldest, largest and arguably most beautiful celebration is scheduled to kick off this weekend as Ellicottville hosts its annual Fall Festival to the backdrop of autumn colors.
Scheduled for Oct. 5-7, this year’s festival will look similar to last year’s, which could be a blessing if the weather also follows through like 2011. The popular Ellicottville Idol is back for its second year and more than 200 vendors have filled up all the spaces on Washington and Jefferson Streets.
“Everything is rolling right along exactly as it should,” said Heather Snyder, administrative coordinator at the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.
The majority of the festival’s events are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, but the festival kicks off Friday afternoon with a Mountain Shop Tent Sale and Ski Swap at Holiday Valley. Also at the resort, the Sky High Adventure Park will be open through Columbus Day for its final weekend of the 2012 season.
On Saturday, the Fall Festival 5k is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with registration at 9 a.m.; a Mountain Bike Race begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with 8:30 a.m. registration. For more information on those races, visit heartrateup.com.
